Dr. C. Aswath has passed away

Dr. C. Aswath, renowned Singer and Music Composer who enthralled millions of Kannadigas across the Globe with his unique compositions and renditions passed away in a private hospital on Tuesday, 29th December 2009.

Dr. Aswath who had been ailing for the past fortnight breathed his last this morning. We join his millions of fans in expressing our heart felt condolences to the bereaved family.

May his soul rest in peace.

C Aswath has been awarded an honorary doctorate in 'Music Therapy' from The Open International University for Complementary Medicine in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

‘Swara Madhuri’ is a compilation of Mr C Aswath’s most popular and well known compositions, in print. The first version by the same name had 100 compositions and the current version – dedicated by Mr Aswath, to the memory of the legendary Sugam Sangeeth Exponent and Singer par Excellence, the late Mysore Ananthswamy - has more than 200 compositions, 240 to be excact.

In addition to the lyrics, the book has the Tonic Scale (Aadhara Shruthi), the ascending and descending note progressions (Aarohana and Avarohana) of the compositions mentioned. Most importantly, the Musical notations for the compositions have been provided to help performers and beginners to understand the correct Musical structure and tune of the song.
